A blogger cannot possibly hope to convey the type of authority, honesty and energy that it takes to make a successful blog, if your heart just isn’t in it anymore. If you are in a bad mood or you don’t feel like doing this anymore – either because you received a negative review or fail to see any current benefit – spiritual, monetarily or otherwise – it will come through in your writing. It will spell out in vitriol for your commenters when you take the time to respond to them. In short, if you’re just not into your blog anymore, your blog won’t have a chance in Google’s Sandbox of succeeding. That is why you need to change things around and put the proper steps in place to remain positive and productive as your blog grows and becomes even more popular. Get your blogging cap on and pull up a chair. Here are the steps to follow to help reach your blogging dreams.
Find Your Passion or Change Direction
Your lagging feelings about your blog may stem from the fact that the subject matter just doesn’t interest you anymore. Maybe you’re burnt out and you would rather eat your computer mouse than read another blog on whatever niche you have chosen to write about. If that is the case, that is a major problem that must be remedied if you hope to be successful.
The first step is to conduct an online search for your subject matter to see if you can dig up any interesting things to write about. You may find new advancements in your field, new technology that changes the industry as everyone knows it, and you may even find a new sub-niche to follow.
The next step is to blog about something else. If you have a voice, you just need passion behind that voice to bring the best blogger in you out. Find what you are truly passionate about and you will have your blogging fuel to keep you sustained for some time.
Make a Plan
Don’t leave it up to the day of writing a blog post to actually plan it out. It is recommended that you plan your blogs way ahead of time so that you provide yourself with a track to follow. If you create your blog posts as you go, you put way too much pressure on yourself. You have to do the research, come up with the title, write the title and post the blog. And then you need to respond to any comments that come in. That is a lot of work to heap on one person at one time. Therefore, the best course of action is to break up your projects into piece-meal and space them out, allowing you plenty of time to get the job done.
Handle your subject matter first and write all of your subjects on a spreadsheet numbered one through thirty. Those numbers will represent your next thirty posts and they will need engaging subject matter if you hope to bring new readers in droves. In a space you leave next to each number, write down the subject matter that would most interest your audience. When you have finished with all thirty, move on to the next step.
Next do your research. You can open a Google Document and make notes in bullets that will represent your outline for the blog post you plan to write. You can write down facts and figures and make notes of attribution for those blogs you wish to borrow from.
Next come up with your titles. It is recommended that you write a few titles for each post so that you can select the best ones to actually publish.
All of these tasks can be completed on separate days; so you may choose one day for subjects and another day for titles. Next devise your web copy. Instead of waiting until all thirty are published, you may write four and strive to always keep three in the wings while you publish the fourth.
You may opt to keep a final day for editing your copy just before it goes live. Once something is on the Internet, it is more than likely permanent; so correct any errors before you publish to the world.
Plan all of your tasks out and keep a daily to-do list that will remind you of those jobs that you still have at hand. Pretty soon you will have a healthy collection of engaging blog posts that your audience truly responds to.
Make Use of Negative Comments
If a negative comment has you down, you need to change your focus. Instead of looking at the negative comment as a failure, think of it as an opportunity to improve. If the comment is of the trollish nature, which means it is intended to invoke reaction and nothing more, ignore it. Getting all worked up over a troll comment is just what the troll wants.
If you come across negative comments that discuss a problem with your blog, writing, editing or person, don’t let your emotions run out of control. Instead, stay calm and consider how you can use that negative comment to improve. When you change your way of thinking and turn negative comments into positive experiences, even going so far as to thank negative commenters for their suggestions, your energy will improve, your audience will take notice and your blogging goals will be even more within your grasp.
